Work and the office
Connect meetings, teams, deadlines, reports, and clients.
Understand the choice
Office vocabulary becomes useful as workflow rather than labels. A meeting creates tasks with deadlines; a report goes to the team or client.
Core rule: Send an item to a recipient; meet a deadline, complete a task, write a report, and work with a client.
Notice it in context
After the meeting, I send the report to the team.
Después de la reunión, envío el informe al equipo.
After the meeting fronts time; report is direct object; to the team is recipient.
The deadline for this task is Friday.
This piece of work must be complete by Friday.
Deadline and task define timing.
A client reads the report while my colleague does remote work.
A customer reads the document while my coworker works away from the office.
Client, report, colleague, and remote work appear directly.
What to remember
- Colleague and coworker overlap; colleague can be broader in a profession.
- Deadline is the final time, not the period of delay.
Common trap: Do not say assist a meeting for attend a meeting.
