Will: future and decisions
Use will + base verb for predictions, promises, offers, and decisions made now.
Understand the choice
Will expresses neutral prediction, promise, offer, willingness, or an immediate decision. The context supplies the specific future function.
Core rule: Will has one form for all subjects and takes a bare infinitive; questions invert will and subject.
Notice it in context
I will call you after the meeting.
Te llamaré después de la reunión.
Will is unchanged with I and supports base call; you is the object.
The train will arrive at noon.
The predicted arrival time is noon.
Will arrive is neutral prediction.
Will you help me with this bag?
Are you willing to help with the bag?
Will inverts before you to make a request.
What to remember
- The contraction ’ll follows pronouns and nouns in informal writing.
- Will not contracts to won’t, an irregular spelling.
Common trap: Do not add -s after will: she will call.
