Shopping and payment
Ask about price, size, discount, payment, and returns.
Understand the choice
A purchase moves from cena and rozmiar to kasa, payment, and possible zwrot. Learn the documents and case frames needed at each step.
Core rule: Potrzebować takes genitive; płacić gotówką/kartą uses instrumental and przy kasie locative.
Notice it in context
Ta kurtka jest w promocji, ale potrzebuję większego rozmiaru.
This jacket is on sale, but I need a larger size.
Promocji is locative after w; większego rozmiaru is genitive after potrzebuję.
Cena jest niska, a przy kasie płacę kartą.
The price is low, and at checkout I pay by card.
Cena and kasa appear as subject and locative; karta changes to instrumental.
Paragon jest potrzebny, jeśli robię zwrot.
The receipt is needed if I make a return.
Paragon and zwrot appear in nominative/accusative-like form.
What to remember
- Promocja is a specific promotion; wyprzedaż is a sale/clearance.
- Paragon is a till receipt; faktura is an invoice.
Common trap: Do not use recepta for receipt; recepta is a prescription.
