Days of the week
Place events on weekdays with w + accusative and habits with co.
Understand the choice
Weekday phrases have lexical accusative forms and sometimes use we for pronunciation. Learn them as scheduling chunks rather than deriving them during conversation.
Core rule: Use w/we + accusative weekday: w poniedziałek, we wtorek, w środę; co + accusative marks every.
Notice it in context
W poniedziałek pracuję, a we wtorek mam wolne.
On Monday I work, and on Tuesday I am off.
W poniedziałek and we wtorek are time accusatives; first-person endings omit ja.
Co środę gramy w piłkę.
Every Wednesday we play football.
Co środę marks a weekly habit with accusative.
W weekend odwiedzamy rodziców.
At the weekend we visit our parents.
Weekend stays unchanged after w in this time use; rodziców is accusative masculine-personal.
What to remember
- We wtorek and we środę avoid difficult consonant clusters.
- Names of weekdays are lowercase.
Common trap: Do not use locative forms for day scheduling: w poniedziałek, not w poniedziałku.
