Understand the choice
Być links identity and location, but noun professions after it often use instrumental. Subject pronouns can disappear because the form identifies the person.
Core rule: Być is irregular: jestem, jesteś, jest, jesteśmy, jesteście, są.

Jestem zmęczona, ale moi przyjaciele są jeszcze aktywni.
I am tired, but my friends are still active.
Jestem encodes a feminine speaker through zmęczona; są agrees with plural friends; aktywni is masculine-personal.
Gdzie jesteś? Jestem w domu.
Where are you? I am at home.
Jesteś and jestem identify ty and ja without pronouns.
Jesteśmy w parku, a wy jesteście w pracy.
We are in the park, and you are at work.
Jesteśmy and jesteście contrast my/wy.
What to remember
- Są has ą; sa is misspelled.
- Present jest can be omitted in some identification headlines, but beginners should keep it.
Common trap: Do not use jest for every subject: jestem, jesteśmy, są.
