Andare in the future simple
Use andr- for future destinations and plans.
Understand the choice
The future simple presents a plan, prediction, or promise. Italian often uses present for scheduled near-future actions, while the future adds distance, uncertainty, or formality.
Core rule: Andare drops the infinitive vowel and uses future stem andr- plus -ò, -ai, -à, -emo, -ete, -anno.
Notice it in context
L’anno prossimo andremo a vivere a Bologna.
Next year we will go to live in Bologna.
Andremo carries noi; l’anno prossimo anchors time; a vivere gives purpose.
Andrai direttamente dal cliente.
You will go directly to the client’s office.
Andrai agrees with tu; dal marks a person/business.
Non andranno alla cerimonia.
They will not go to the ceremony.
Andranno is third plural future and follows non.
What to remember
- Future forms require written accents in first and third singular: andrò, andrà.
- The stem andr- also appears in conditional andrei.
Common trap: Do not keep the infinitive vowel as andareò. Use andrò.
