Alzarsi: present tense
Match reflexive pronouns to the subject in a daily routine.
Understand the choice
Alzarsi differs from alzare something because the reflexive pronoun links the action back to the subject. The ending and pronoun should agree as a pair.
Core rule: Reflexive verbs place mi, ti, si, ci, vi, si before the finite verb.
Notice it in context
Mi alzo presto, ma i bambini si alzano alle otto.
I get up early, but the children get up at eight.
Mi pairs with omitted io and alzo; si pairs with plural bambini and alzano.
A che ora vi alzate?
What time do you get up?
Vi and -ate identify voi in the question.
Domani dobbiamo alzarci prima.
Tomorrow we have to get up earlier.
With a modal, ci attaches to infinitive alzarci.
What to remember
- A pronoun can precede the modal too: ci dobbiamo alzare.
- The infinitive drops final -e before attached pronoun: alzare + ci → alzarci.
Common trap: Do not use si for every subject: mi alzo, ti alzi.
